Professional Networking
By: Megan Cheever
Filed Under: Uncategorized | Leave a Comment
Hello again everyone,
While having many conversations with alumni across the country, one hot topic came up time and again. The idea of social and professional networking online seems to be taking our workforce by storm. No longer do people NEED to network in person, you can just jump onto online sites such as Linked In and make connections there.
The neat thing about Linked In, is that you can directly see how big your network really is. You are connected to a person, who is connected to 100 people, and these people are connected to countless others and the next thing you know your network is populated with more people than you could have imagined. So, those of you looking to add new clients, find another job, hire a new employee or simply reconnect with an old classmate you know can help you in your life or business, this is the perfect place for you.
The Saunders College has branched out and have not only a professional profile, but a few groups as well for alumni to connect to. You can see our profile and connect to us here:

Hello Alumni,
By now you should have received the most recent issue of Dividends. If you did not receive a copy please let us know and we’ll send one to you right away.
We would like to know what you think about this issue. What do you enjoy the most? What would you like to see change? Would you rather receive this in email or hard copy? Things like this will be helpful to us as we look for information most valuable to you, our alumni.
We’re in the process of updating this publication right now and are looking for your input. This has always been a newsletter for alumni about alumni and the college. Therefore, we hope it is meeting your needs in terms of information, if not now is the time to be heard.
If you have any input feel free to send a quick email to us!
Looking forward to your responses.

Hello Alumni,
In case you haven’t seen or heard, the Saunder College has branched out into the wide world of social networking. We can be found on Facebook and LinkedIN. Both of these sites allow you to connect to friends and faculty as well as make some great social and professional connections.
We hope you will find this useful during your RIT alumni experience. Look around these sites and see what we can do to better meet your needs. We have added an alumni group to our facebook page as an added way to network with alumni across the globe.
As always, let us know what you think by posting to this blog or emailing the alumni relations office of Saunders.
Have a great day!

Hello again alumni.
There may be some of you who haven’t been back to campus in awhile. If you haven’t seen the Lowenthal building within the last year you are in for a big surprise! We have added some beautiful renovations to the front and inside of the building including new windows, new student lounges, a patio and even a new computer lab.
You can see the college featured in this new video.
Let me know what you think of the video and if there is anything else you’d like to hear, see or know about the college. I’d be happy to talk to you.

Welcome to the DAR blog!

Hi Everyone,
Welcome to the new Saunders DAR team blog! How exciting. For those of you who haven’t figured out what DAR stands for (you know how RIT just loves acronyms) it’s the Development and Alumni Relations team housed within the Saunders College.
Our “team” consists of Director of Development, Mark Boylan; Associate Director of Alumni Relations, Megan Cheever; and myself, Donna Slavin, Assistant Director of Special Events and Programs for the Saunders College of Business. I sit on this team as the liaison between the College and the Development and Alumni Relations departments.
Winter quarter just started after a two week break. Then, break again after 3 weeks of classes for the holidays! School will then start again on January 7, 2008. Remember those days and that very tough winter quarter. And, before you know it, we will be coming up on Commencement again! Wow, no wonder my life goes so fast working here.
We have started this blog so we can keep in touch with our alums. We want to know what’s going on with you and ways you want us to help you. Let me know what you want to talk about and hopefully we will get some dialogue going. Send topics or post them here for discussion.
For upcoming events don’t forget to view the Events Calendar at www.saunders.rit.edu/alumni The Dean’s Receptions will be starting up soon so be sure to check and see if we are coming to your town!
Get blogging!

Alumni Relations at Saunders
By: Megan Cheever

Hi Saunders Alumni!
For those who don’t know me, my name is Megan Cheever. I am the Associate Director of Alumni Relations and Development for the E. Philip Saunders College of Business. If you want to read a little more about me, you can read my bio. Yes, I do believe my title is in the running for longest title at RIT, but I’m honored to have it! That title comes with the best and most rewarding responsibilities. I get to meet and speak with alumni about what an amazing place RIT is, and help alumni come back to campus and reconnect with their alma mater.
Even in the brief year that I have been here in the Saunders College I have seen some of the most amazing advancements in business, heard some of the most inspirational stories from alumni and watched our students obtain jobs at Google, Goldman Sachs, The Nielsen Company, Xerox , Pictometry, and many more! I am so proud to be a part of the Saunders College, as I am sure you are too. If you would like to read some past stories about our alumni and student successes check out Dividends.
I started this blog, today in fact, to open the doors for discussion on Alumni related topics. I need to hear in your words how we are doing and how we can improve on it. If I had the chance to personally visit each and every one of you to hear your RIT story I would! I am putting my virtual ear forward and asking for you to tell me your story. Let me know about your experience at the Saunders College. What’s your fondest memory? Who is your favorite professor and why? How are you using your degree now? Where are you right now and what are you up to? You can share your memories right here on the blog and come back to read what others remember, or you can contact me at mcheever@saunders.rit.edu or (585)475-2354.
I can’t wait to hear from you!
Come and check up with me often by adding all Saunders Blogs to your favorites!
